NOTE:
This is a part-time position (20 hours/week).
The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period.
Likewise, benefits and time-off accrual will also be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
This position is located in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) Beckley VA Medical Center in Beckley, WV.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
o Perform venipuncture and therapeutic phlebotomies on patients and employees o Perform laboratory tests under normal supervision and qualify control tests o Schedule, perform ,and process glucose test o Assess the accuracy of laboratory orders for items and incoming laboratory samples o Provide training and guidance in phlebotomy techniques to medical technicians, nurses, and new employees o Perform standardized Coagulation Section bleeding time tests on patients o Enter data in a preprogrammed computer system for test ordering, accessioning, result retrieval, and sample tracking o Operate laboratory equipment; handle chemical reagents; and maintain inventory of necessary supplies o Perform other directly related duties Work Schedule:

(Tour of duty will be determined by supervisor) DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
